Northern Lights
Derive from the lineage of Cannabis ruderalis, making them fast growing and resistant to adverse conditions (disease, drought, underfeeding, etc)
Can easily be grown by anyone and require less maintenance compared to photoperiod strains
Autoflowering strains flower based on maturity and do not require a change in day length to initiate flowering (photoperiod strain). This eliminates the need for black out tent.
Feminized seeds will increase the ratio female to male plants
Take your seeds out of their container and place in a glass of distilled water. Seeds should sink to the bottom of the glass. Let them soak for up to 18 hours.
Fold 2 sheets of paper towel together and place on a plate
Pour the glass of water onto the paper towel to saturate it. Drain off any excess water.
Place your seeds on the paper towel at least 5 cm apart. Fold the wet paper towel over to completely cover your seeds. Place plate in a warm, dark place.
Check daily and keep the paper towel moist. Watch for the taproot beginning to emerge. Note: germination can take from 3-10 days.
Once the taproot has emerged, your seeds are now seedlings are ready to be planted
Seeds can be germinated in damp paper towel
Be careful not to touch the root or expose your germinated seeds to light for long periods
Seeds can be grown in soilless media such as potting mix or hydroponic
Consider planting your seeds into a Solo cup sized container to begin
Moisten the potting mix prior to planting
Make a hole about 1-2 cm deep
Plant your seeds root down and cover gently with potting mix
Allow potting mix to dry out of the surface before watering, to prevent over watering
Depending on the hydroponic media you choose, ensure it is prepped prior to planting
Place seed 1-2 cm deep, root down
If you choose, sprinkle vermiculite over the seedlings
Ideal growing temperature for seedlings is 20-25 °C
Give your seedlings 18 hours light and 6 hours darkness each day. Light should be approximately 30-60 cm from growing media.
If the seedlings will be moved outdoors, they will need to be acclimatized. You can do this by placing your seedlings outdoors for short periods of time after last frost.
Begin adding nutrients in 2nd week of growth
Consider transplanting into a larger container halfway through the growing cycle (week 4). Choose a container that has good drainage.
